Ahmedabad, January 23, 2024: Students of Aarihant Homeopathic Medical College and Research Institute of the Community Medicine Department, affiliated with Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University (SSIU) recently visited the Sewage Treatment Plant in Pirana, Ahmedabad. The BHMS final year students undertook the visit last week under the guidance of faculty coordinators, Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma, professor and head, department of community medicine, Dr Jaya Srivastava, assistant professor, department of community medicine, and Dr Disha Shrotriya, assistant professor, department of community medicine.
Some 85 students participated in the event which was organised as part of the Community Medicine curriculum with a view to provide students with insights and practical understanding about the treatment of sewage water released from domestic households.
The entire exercise provided students with real-time experience of sewage treatment as they understood every single process ranging from screening, sedimentation, activated sludge process, clarifier, chlorination, and digester, among others. The tour was facilitated by a technical expert.
